*****Basic Lotion Recipe.********

VERY GOOD

10.5 oz goat milk 2 oz glycerin

16 oz coconut oil .5 oz olive oil

2 oz emulsifying wax .5 oz vitamin E oil

17.5 oz aloe vera gel .5 oz germaben II

.5 oz fragrance

Heat milk and glycerin together until almost boiling. In seperate pan, melt all oils except vitamin E with E-wax. Slowly add milk/glycerin to oil/wax and mix with a wire whisk. Add vitamin E oil and whisk well. Cool slightly and add aloe vera gel. Whisk well. Cool to room temp and add germaben II and fragrance. Whisk well. Fill sterile bottles.

(I fill bottles while lotion is still alittle warm, so its easier to get into the bottles with less mess.) This is a pretty simple lotion, easy to make, and good to begin with and practice with.

Basic soap recipe

1 lb lard, just melted enough to become liquid

3/4 cup fresh goats milk, partially frozen

2 oz lye

fragrances or oils

First, warm lard on lowest setting on stove. Measure lye and set aside. Pour milk into a bowl, and slowly add lye stirring with a wooden spoon. Continue to stir lye milk mixture, while watching oil, making sure to remove from heat as soon as it is liquid. Slowly pour oil into mixture, stirring constantly until mixture traces. Add scents at trace, and pour into prepared molds.

Let soap set in mold, covered for 24 hrs. Let cure for 3 weeks.

By making this small batch, I can make a couple of different scents and its easier to work with.
